This 2020 Captain Cook £2 is the third of three coins marking the 250th anniversary of Captain Cook’s epic voyage and designed by Gary Breeze.
Instructed to search for the fabled ‘Great Southern Continent’, the mission proved fruitless. Cook headed west to New Zealand instead, before stumbling across the east coast of Australia. Arriving home in 1771, he brought back new-found knowledge of distant lands.
