This 2022 Peter Rabbit £5 celebrates 120 years since the first publication of Beatrix Potter’s The Tale of Peter Rabbit. What started as an illustrated letter to a child has now become one of the most cherished children’s tales from the twentieth century. Peter Rabbit first captured imaginations through his mischievous antics in 1902 and his popularity still endures amongst little ones discovering The Tale of Peter Rabbit for the first time.
The coin’s reverse design is based on a charming illustration of the rabbit that was originally created by the story’s multitalented author. This is only the second time Peter Rabbit has featured on a UK £5 coin.
