This 2021 The Queens 95th Birthday Trooping the Colour 50p has been issued on behalf of the British Indian Ocean Territory.
The coin features Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on horseback during a Trooping the Colour Ceremony. Trooping the Colour is a ceremony performed by regiments of the British and Commonwealth armies to mark the official birthday of the British Sovereign. This ceremony has been a tradition for over 260 years and it takes place in June every year.
This year The Queen will be celebrated on 12th June and taking part will be up to 1450 soldiers of the Household Division and The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery, along with up to 400 musicians from the Massed Bands. Over 240 soldiers from the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards will line The Mall. The parade route extends from Buckingham Palace along The Mall to Horse Guards Parade, Whitehall and back again.
