After watching many Coin Hunt’s on Youtube I went to the Post Office and bought a closed bag of £250 worth of 50 pences to see how many commemorative 50p coins I could find to start my own collection. The sealed bag was from Birmingham dated 30-12-2019. This is what we found:
5x 2017 Benjamin Bunny
3x 2013 Christopher Ironside
2x 2006 Victoria Cross Soldier
2x 2007 Scouting
1x 1998 European Union
1x 2004 Roger Bannister
1x 2005 Samuel Johnsons Dictionary
1x 2011 London Olympic Archery
1x 2011 London Olympic Fencing
1x 2015 Battle of Britain
1x 2016 Peter Rabbit
1x 2016 Mrs Tiggy-Winkle
1x 2016 Team GB
1x 2016 Battle of Hastings
1x 2017 Jeremy Fisher
1x 2017 Tom Kitten
1x 2018 Mrs Tittlemouse
1x 2018 Representation of the People Act
1x 2018 Paddington at the Station
1x 2018 Paddington at Buckingham Palace
2x Bailiwick of Jersey
2x 2017 Shield’s
1x 2008 Britannia
It was a great hunt with quite a lot of commemorative 50p coins. Getting 2 Olympic coins was awesome and the Star Find in this hunt was the 2011 London Olympic Fencing 50p with a mintage of just 2,115,500 and estimated value of £1.75.
