This is the 4th hunt in the series where we buy a closed bag of £250 worth of 50 pences to see how many commemorative 50p coins I could find for my own collection. The sealed bag was from Birmingham dated 04-02-2020. This bag was packaged 5 minutes later than the 3rd hunt. This is what we found:
4x 2017 Benjamin Bunny
4x 2020 Brexit
3x 2005 Samuel Johnsons Dictionary
3x 2019 Paddington at St Paul’s
2x 2014 Commonwealth Games
2x 2017 Peter Rabbit
2x 2018 Representation of the People Act
2x 2019 Paddington at the Tower
2x 2019 Sherlock Holmes
1x 2004 Roger Bannister
1x 2006 Victoria Cross
1x 2006 Victoria Cross Soldier
1x 2011 London 2012 Triathlon
1x 2013 Christopher Ironside
1x 2016 Peter Rabbit
2x 2008 Britannia
It was a great hunt with quite a lot of commemorative 50p coins. Getting an Olympic coin was awesome and the Star Find in this hunt was the 2011 London Triathlon 50p with a mintage of just 1,163,500 and estimated value of £10.
