The Royal Mint was the official licensee for the manufacture of 50p coins for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. In total there were 29 Olympic Coins released in 2011 ranging from Aquatics through to Wrestling.
It’s estimated that around 75% of these coins have been removed from circulation by collectors which means they are incredibly sought-after, especially considering these 50p’s have some of the lowest mintage figures in circulation.
Many of the 2011 Olympic 50ps have a mintage less than 2,000,000 with the rarest (the Olympic Football 50p) having a mintage of just 1,125,500.
This guide will hopefully let you easily identify which coins are in circulation, the mintage and estimated value. (Values can go up and down so this is just an informative estimate)
