This 2019 RRS Sir David Attenborough £2 features Britain’s new polar ship which departed for sea trials on the 21st October 2020 to be put through its paces before making its maiden voyage to Antarctica late next year to boost research into climate change.
The ship featured on this coin is itself about 125 metres long, with a beam of 24 metres, and a draught of 7 metres. This vessel will always have a special place in Pobjoy Mint’s history with the vessel having several of our coins from three different British Overseas Territories placed under the keel block of the RRS Sir David Attenborough.
